Position Summary:
The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for managing and supporting all audio visual needs across campus, with a focus on college events, academic programming, and athletic events. This position is part of the IT department and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, event planners, and athletic personnel to ensure high-quality A/V experiences. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in audio, video, and streaming technologies, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio-visual systems for a wide variety of campus events, including lectures, performances, ceremonies, meetings, and sports events.
- Provide live A/V and streaming support for athletic games and special events, ensuring optimal sound and video quality.
- Install, configure, and maintain permanently mounted A/V equipment in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces, ensuring long-term reliability and functionality.
- Coordinate with the IT team to integrate A/V systems with campus network infrastructure and provide technical support when needed.
- Maintain, inventory, and manage A/V equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, video displays, cameras, mixers, and streaming devices.
- Provide training and guidance to staff, faculty, and students on the use of A/V equipment and presentation tools.
- Assist with planning and logistics for campus-wide and high-profile events, including commencement and guest speaker engagements.
- Stay current with A/V trends, tools, and best practices, and make recommendations for upgrades and enhancements.
- Document procedures, event setups, and technical configurations for future reference and consistency.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during all events and interactions, serving as a representative of the college and the IT department.
- Respond to emergency A/V needs and provide on-call support for evening or weekend events as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Media Production, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in audio-visual setup and support, preferably in an academic or event-focused environment.
• Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
Preferred:
• Experience working in higher education.
• Familiarity with sports broadcasting or athletic event production.
• AVIXA CTS or other relevant certification.
