Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025 , is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive, full-time Manager of Network Infrastructure - P00256 to lead and support our campus-wide network operations.
What You'll Do
This position will oversee the daily activities of a network technician and serve as the primary point of contact for maintaining and optimizing critical network equipment, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, deep technical expertise in network infrastructure, and a commitment to ensuring secure and reliable connectivity across the college.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Network Equipment Management: Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure optimal performance and security.
Wireless Networking: Maintain an existing robust wireless infrastructure while making recommendations for new best practices and equipment to ensure it is working at optimal performance
Team Leadership: Supervise and support the network technician, providing guidance, task delegation, and performance feedback.
Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance and availability using appropriate tools; proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
Security Implementation: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, and access control policies.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, topologies, and procedures.
Project Management: Lead or participate in network-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
Collaboration: Work closely with IT leadership and other departments to align network infrastructure with institutional goals and technology initiatives.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Proven experience managing enterprise network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless systems, and firewalls.
Strong understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, VLANs, and routing.
Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage and mentor technical staff.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent.
Two years of supervisory experience
Experience with Cisco, Aruba, or similar enterprise networking solutions.
Familiarity with network security best practices and compliance standards.
